Jiu-Jitsu and Strength Academy is exactly what the name describes – a place to learn jiu-jitsu and get stronger – not only in your body, but in your mind too.

Our Mission is provide the best and most well-rounded Jiu-Jitsu programs for self-defense and for sport. We also want to provide a functional strength training facility where everyone – from jiu-jitsu athletes, everyday "joes", women, etc can get an realistic and functional workout that will improve their performance, bodies, and mental toughness.

Two Distinct and Complimentary Styles of Jiu-Jitsu

  • Kobukai Ju-Jitsu

    A modern Japanese Style of Ju-Jitsu that’s main goal is to provide a simple yet brutally effective self-defense style of ju-jitsu.
  • Brazilian Jiu-JItsu

    A Brazilian Style of Jiu-Jitsu that focuses exclusively on the ground fighting and is generally trained for sportive events; but also is a very effective self-defense art as well.

When you train Kobukai and BJJ together – you have what I consider "pure" jiu-jitsu.

Matt Bryers is a the head instructor for Kobukai Ju-Jitsu and assistant instructor for BJJ. Matt has been training and teaching Jiu-Jitsu for over 12 years. Learn more about Matt here
