Matt Bryers

Kobukai Ju-Jitsu Black Belt / Certified Hand to Hand Combat Instructor / Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instructor

Matt Bryers is a 3rd degree Kobukai Ju-Jitsu Blackbelt, certified H2H Combat Instructor and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Purple Belt / instructor.  He has been training wrestling, submission grappling, jiu-jitsu and combat related martial arts for over 12 years.

Matt has competed in many wrestling, submission grappling, and mixed martial arts fights and competitions.  He made his professional MMA debut on July 18th 2009

Matt’s goals are to always try to learn and improve his jiu-jitsu, hand to hand combat, and martial arts skills. He trains regularly with his peers, students, and teachers to improve himself both as a teacher and martial artist.

Rafael Formiga Barbosa

Rafael “Formiga” Barbosa - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instructor, Jiu-Jitsu Team Coach
3rd Degree Black Belt / Top-Level BJJ Competitor

Formiga is without question – the best jiu-jitsu instructor in CT! We are EXTREMELY blessed, lucky, priveleged, etc to have him teach at our school. He is one of the most talented and dynamic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighters and teachers in the world.

He is a 3rd Degree BJJ Black Belt under Master Andre Almedia "Dedeco" of Best Way Jiu-Jitsu. Formiga is also the co-founder of the world famous Soul Fighter Jiu-Jitsu Team.

Rafael will be teaching 4 days a week at the JSA. The opportunity to train with Formiga is HUGE – he brings a wealth of talent, experience, and amazing technical knowledge.

Rafael has won NUMEROUS titles in Brazil and the USA.. He continually competes and wins successfully in all the major world tournaments, Pan Ams and local tournaments as well.

Muay Thai Greg

Kru Greg Przytulski - Muay Thai Instructor

Greg is an exceptional Muay Thai practioner and coach. Greg has been training and teaching under the famous Sityodtong Family for over 7 years, spending most of his training with Kru Peter Pinto (now UFC Muay Thai Trainer in Las Vegas). Recently Sityodtong and Peter Pinto has given Greg the blessing to continue to share Muay Thai at the JSA. But, like any true martial artist – Greg is always continuing his training and improving his skills by visiting the Sityodtong headquarters in Boston, MA once a week.

Greg will be offering Muay Thai classes 2x a week and is also available for private lessons.

Strongman Training

Brad Andersen - Strongman and Strength Coach

Brad Andersen is a local strongman competitor having competed for 4 years in the New England Area. Starting out as a Light-Heavy Weight and transitioning to Heavy Weight, he has learned how to constantly bring his performance to new levels. In doing so he has devised a training philosophy that carries over to a variety of different competitive sports. Brad teaches strongman to football players, MMA fighters, and Jiu-Jitsu fighters to improve their strength and performance in their respected sport.

As the 2011 strongman season winding down, Brad is the current Mass State Champ and National Competitor . Being outweighed by competitos sometimes by 100 pounds or more, he has found a combination of strength and conditioning can best a much larger adversary

Brad is working with the JSA to develop individualized training programs to develop superb usable strength and conditioning for all students.
